A World without Rules
By Lenka Vodicka
This book would have colorful, playful images. The first pages would show the fun of living without rules. The following page would illustrate the consequences of that choice, using humor and bright colors to engage children.
If I could, I would live in a world without rules.
I bet that you would, too . . .
In a world without rules, there would be no speed limits. You could drive as fast as you wanted.
And you would be in a lot of accidents!
In a world without rules, you could eat whatever you wanted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You could eat cake and ice cream all day long!
And you would get a lot of tummy aches!
In a world without rules, you would never ever have to take a bath.
And you would get pretty stinky!
In a world without rules, you would never ever have to pick up your things.
And you would lose your things. You might trip and hurt yourself, too! And break your things!
In a world without rules, you could throw your trash anywhere.
And trash would be everywhere!
In a world without rules, you could throw paper away every time you made a mistake. You could use 1000 pieces of paper a day!
And the forests would be cut down to make all of that paper!
In a world without rules, you would have recess all day long at school!
And you would not learn new things!
In a world without rules, you would not have a bedtime! You could stay up all night long!
And you would be sleepy all day long!
In a world without rules, you would win every game!
And no one would want to play with you!
In a world without rules, you would never have to wait in line at the grocery store (or the drinking fountain).
And there would be a lot of fighting!
Now that I think, maybe a world without rules would not be so fun.
Maybe rules are good things.
Maybe rules are cool.
What do you think? Would you want to live in a world without rules?
